Construction work at the new £35 million theatre in Aylesbury is now complete and audiences are set to enjoy some of the best acts in the UK performing at the 1,800-capacity venue.

Aylesbury Waterside Theatre manhole cover case study

Willmott Dixon Construction recently completed the Aylesbury Waterside Theatre for Aylesbury Vale District Council.

Aylesbury Waterside Theatre takes its name from its setting next to the canal and was a popular choice among local people. The theatre will be a cultural hub for Aylesbury and local area with a 1,200-seat auditorium converting into an 1,800-capacity hall, and a 220-seat suite for smaller events including dance, drama, meetings and conferences.

The new venue, which replaces Aylesbury’s old Civic Centre, is expected to attract 300,000 people from the region each year once it opens on October 12th. The project is the latest in a number of theatres to be completed by the Willmott Dixon group. Other recent examples include Theatre Severn in Shrewsbury and Newport Arts Centre, and the company is currently on site with a theatre in Guildford.

Manhole Covers Limited, based locally near Aylesbury, supplied access covers throughout the project, beginning with ductile iron road castings for the access roads and car parks on behalf of groundworks contractor Steve Hill Construction, followed by interior units for the main build, notably our high end MHC-7100 Series Stainless Steel Edged recessed access covers & frames, for main contractors Willmott Dixon Construction.
