MoreLocated on 100 acres in the Docklands area of East London, ExCeL London has been extended to provide almost 100,000m2 of event space and hosts some of the biggest trade and consumer events in the UK.
During 2008-2009 Manhole Covers Limited, in association with Sir Robert McAlpine and Grimshaw-Architects, helped in the design of a continuous steel removable ducting system which enabled event organisers to have access at any point to the labyrinth of below floor services. The extension comprised over 100 metres of the specially fabricated duct which had to be constructed to FACTA FL Load requirements (Forklift traffic) to facilitate the input and movement of the wide range of exhibits, temporary constructions, and seating requirements used at this internationally renowned exhibition, conference and sports centre.
ExCel London will host no less than seven Olympic and five Paralympic events during London 2012.
